SHREVEPORT, La. - As the high school football season approaches, Captain Shreve High School is putting safety first by equipping its players with one of the most advanced helmets on the market.
The Captain Shreve Gators will take the field this fall wearing the VICIS ZERO2. It is a top-tier football helmet designed with a flexible outer shell and energy-absorbing core. The technology is engineered to reduce impact and provide superior protection — features that have made the helmet a favorite among professional and college athletes.
"It's kind of life-changing for a program like ours," said head coach Jeremy Wilburn. "Safety's the utmost importance. We consider our players an extension of our families. Many of our coaches have kids on this team, and we want them to be as safe as possible in this aggressive sport."
Wilburn emphasized that partnering with VICIS has allowed the school to access the "most high-end, most researched, top-of-the-line protection" available.
The new helmets have already made an impression on the players, according to Wilburn.
"They like it, they’re comfortable. And when they feel good, they play well and they’re happy," he said.
Captain Shreve is among only a few teams in Louisiana to adopt the VICIS ZERO2, making it a leader in football safety innovation in the state.
